Castlestorm seems like it was born during one of Zen Studios brainstorming sessions while they were trying to figure out what to do for their next game and they couldn’t agree on which genre to go with. It’s a little bit of a Strategy game, a little bit of a side-scrolling Action-RPG, a little bit like Angry Birds and a whole lot of a Tower-Defense game. The single player campaign takes place centuries ago, when Knights and Barbarians battled for control of the land. During one such battle, the Peace Goddess dropped down two gems, blue and red, for each side to take and call an end to the war. Some time later, the rivalry heated back up and you’ll play as Sir Gareth, the King’s Protector of the Realm, as he and the King’s army defend their Teardrop Gem from the hands of the Barbarians.
